Day 12: Incorporate More Storage Solutions to Keep Clutter at Bay
Welcome to day 12 of "31 Days of Loving Our Homes!" Our resolution of the day is to incorporate more storage solutions into your home to keep clutter at bay. Because these 31 days are geared towards creating spaces where we feel happier and more comfortable, I feel it is key to address organization. I truly believe that clutter takes away from the feel of a space. Often times, I think that we feel displeased with our spaces not because they aren't the vibe... but because the vibe is hidden behind by a bit of a mess.
It is so very normal to have a bit of chaos in our homes from time to time. Our homes are often a space where we simply meet to rest and start back up again the next day... But, prioritizing organization can be a big first step to feeling more comfortable in our spaces and also to enjoying our spaces more.
Here are some personal favorite solutions to keeping your space organized and feeling great!
Storage Solutions for the Home... but make it Aesthetic:
Baskets
It's no secret that here at Mi Vida Collective, we love a good basket. Not only can they be extremely aesthetic, but they are also super functional. My favorite way to use storage baskets is to corral items by the front door that we would rather not be visible to guests. You can slide them right under your console table or bench and tuck away things like shoes, bags and dog leashes.
Smaller baskets like our Noire Woven Baskets are great for keeping smaller items like kitchen utensils, remotes or even keys and wallets together and out of sight.
Trays
Another way to manage clutter is to corral things using a decorative tray. Sometimes it's more functional to have our most used items out but in order to ensure its still visibly aesthetic, we can use to a tray to keep like items together. For example, using a a piece like our Sandstone Tray is a great way to corral kitchen utensils and spices or even your favorite skincare products in your bathroom.
Furniture with Storage
This may seem like an obvious tip, but so much of the inspiration that we see online boasts sleek furniture with clean lines and minimal storage. Sometimes, we have to compromise a little on trend in order to ensure that our spaces are still functional for us. Using a funky sideboard as an entry table, for example, could be a great way to add some storage into a space that may otherwise remain slightly cluttered.
The key to keeping a space organized is to incorporate organization solutions that work for you!
