Day 16: Display the Things That Make Your Heart Happy

Our homes are more than just physical spaces... They are reflections of our personalities, tastes, and, most importantly, our emotions. One powerful way to infuse positive energy into your living space is by showcasing the things that bring you joy and simply make your heart happy! For Day 16 of 31 Days of Loving Our Homes, our resolution is just that.... to display the things that make your heart happy

Start by identifying the items that hold special meaning for you. These could be family photos, travel souvenirs, artwork, hand-me-downs, or even vintage finds. The key is to curate a collection that resonates with your personal story and evokes positive emotions for you.

Next, try your best to put interior design trends and interior decor styles out of your mind! Don't let trend or "what's in" to dictate this special part of your home. The whole point in fact is to style with things that make your heart happy. Solely base your decision off of the feelings that these pieces evoke. Chances are, either way, because they are pieces you love, they will likely work into your interior styling just fine!

How to Mix in the Pieces That Make Your Heart Happy

Open Shelving

One way to display some of your favorite pieces is on open shelving. Open shelving provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your favorite books, trinkets, and decorative items. Arrange them thoughtfully, playing with height and color to create an eye-catching display. This not only adds character to your space but also allows you to revisit the things that make you happy every day.

If you are worried about how some of your favorite pieces will play into your decor style, incorporate them in small bits throughout these kinds of displays in order to "work them into your space."

Gallery Walls

Gallery walls are a great option to display collected artwork, photographs and even hangable decor in your space. This not only adds a personalized touch to your home but also serves as a visual reminder of the moments and experiences that bring you joy. Mix and match frames for an eclectic look or maintain a cohesive theme for a more polished feel.

At the end of the day, it's important not to limit yourself to traditional displays – get creative! Utilize unique containers, like glass jars or vintage crates, to showcase smaller items. You may even rotate which items you have out periodically to keep things fresh and introduce a sense of variety!

Remember that the goal is not to clutter your space but to curate a thoughtful arrangement that sparks joy. Take the time to surround yourself with items that truly resonate with you as opposed to rushing to style a space with pieces you think you need to incorporate. Displaying the things that make your heart happy is an act of self-expression and self-love. It's about creating an environment that uplifts your spirits, promotes positive energy, and serves as a daily reminder of the beautiful aspects of life that bring you joy.
