Day 7: Rearrange Furniture to Refresh a Space

Welcome to Day 7 of "31 Days of Loving Our Homes." I am excited about todays resolution because it takes me way back to when I first fell in love with interiors...

Growing up, I loved the magic of rearranging furniture. I was in awe with how differently my room could feel just from changing up the layout. This is one of the biggest "home decor hacks" I could share with you... Yes, seriously. It may seem overly simple, but, rearranging your furniture to refresh your space is an amazing way to give a space a new feel and to utilize the pieces that you already own while still creating a noticeable change.

We live in a world that is constantly showing us new and shiny things which can often lead to us feeling bored or tired of our spaces. Rearranging the most used spaces in your home is a great way to help to reinvigorate your love for your space and to highlight different pieces that you may not have in the past.  It could be as simple as bringing a piece in from another part of the home or simply removing a piece that feels dated or worn that may be dragging down the overall energy in a space.

Here are some of my favorite tips for rearranging furniture to freshen up your space:

1. Instead of placing all of your furniture along the walls, try to create zones in your open spaces that feel cozy and welcoming.

2. Swap accent furniture in your home from one room to the other. Bringing in a piece that is new to the specific space can often give you see same feelings as bringing a newly bought piece into the space.

3. Rearrange the smaller decor pieces in a space. Often times, people tend to style their spaces once and never look back... it can be nice to shift the decor in the space & will often make a bigger difference than you think.

4. If your bedroom layout permits, swap your bed to another wall. Shifting the position of your bed is something that is done so infrequently, that it will feel like a huge change all on its own.

5. Finally... if you really want to make a big change and you have an open floor plan in your main living area... swap your dining space with your living space and see how it feels. Growing up this is something that my mom often did and the entire space felt new each time.

It’s important to remember that to make a space feel better, we don’t always need to buy something new or take on a big project. Hopefully Day 7 inspires you to shift some things in your home to give you a better perspective on what you love and what may still need some work.
